Benefits of Braces

Orthodontics is a beneficial process that enhances your appearance and improves the overall health of your teeth. While they can elevate your self-esteem, braces address many of the issues associated with a poor fit of the teeth. This can include crowding of the teeth, misalignment of the jaws, abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, and excessive stress of gum tissue and the bone that support the teeth. Additionally, because excessively crowded teeth can be difficult to clean, braces can help avoid tooth decay and gum disease. Orthodontics offers a beautiful smile while achieving so much more!

Adult Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment can be successful in your adult years! Currently, 35% of our practice population is adult patients (ages ranging 21-68). Aligning the teeth can be

accomplished if the bone structure and gum tissues are healthy, regardless of your age. We offer orthodontic appliances that include the metal or ceramic braces and you can choose which best fits your lifestyle. With the latest orthodontic technology, the brackets and wires have been dramatically improved to increase your comfort, lessen number of necessary appointments, and possibly decrease your overall treatment time.

Child Orthodontics

Years ago, it was recommended that a patient wait until they had lost all of their baby teeth and most of their permanent teeth had erupted. Over time, orthodontics has evolved to address issues that would be better treated at an earlier age. As children develop and grow, they may show beginning signs of jaw issues. If the upper or lower jaw is growing too much or not enough or if there is severe crowding of the teeth, it would be best to have an orthodontic evaluation. If necessary, orthodontic appliances can be used to direct the growth of the upper and lower jaws, which would improve the relationship between the jaws, align and decrease crowding of the teeth, and create space for the eruption of permanent teeth. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic evaluation at the age of 7. Does this mean that all young children need orthodontic treatment? Absolutely Not! Dr. Pulsipher would recommend it in cases where it would provide the best possible benefit to the patient.
